Today I returned from an ESYO (Empire State Youth Orchestra) retreat at the Frost Valley YMCA facility in the Catskill Mountains of New York. The first 14 miles of the drive was on Frost Valley Road, a smooth(-ish), twisting and flowing road with significant elevation change. I think it would make a fine rally stage, as shown below.
Unfortunately, I was not in a low, tightly-strung rally car. I was in a 45-foot, 23-ton coach bus. The suspension is designed to absorb bumps, not to smash through them and grip the road. As such, the handling must be quite a handful. Inside, it felt something like this.
On the way I also saw a Ferrari 360 Spider, an FF, and a (probably replica) Shelby Cobra. Sorry, but no SR20's. I also saw a handful of track cars on trailers. I'm not sure where they came from though. Maybe there was an autocross event somewhere near here (Albany).
Lastly, what is this car? I only have half of it in frame.
EDIT: It's most likely a replica Shelby Daytona. H/T to !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! .

Yes, because I've been on at least two roads in NY that were amazing driving roads.
And that's all I need to make that statement factual.

To be honest with you, the farthest west I'm probably ever going to go is Watkins Glen.

Well you're going to miss some really nice areas. Everything around Jamestown and by the SW corner is really nice. Hilly and fun. Some awesome state parks too.
